FAQ

What is this blog for?

This is a place where I share my professions and confessions along the tedious idea, to writing, to publishing process. As well as having some stimulating conversations about other joyous things in life.

What kind of writing do you do?

Currently I'm stewing several different genres in my brain. My current series, The Lost Relic Series, is the only completed novel thus far and it is a fantasy story, with some light sci-fi mixed in it. Most of my writing teeters in the fantasy realm, though I have some fun women's lit, post-apocalyptic, and crime stories being born as we speak.

How long did it take for you to write your first book?

Ugh, is a writer ever fully done? My first book, Rise of a Guardian, took me a solid 3 1/2 years to write and at least another year of revisions, editing, beta-reading etc. After the first book though, I think I've figured out my groove and my system so I'm pleased to say the stories are flowing out a little faster, and a little cleaner. Can I get a hallelujah!

Do you promote other author's work?

I'm a reader as well as an author. I don't do promotions often, but if I read your story and love it, of course I'll tell people about it any way I can.

Do you still edit?

At the moment emmyedits.com is still open, but I will give a disclaimer I am only taking on very few projects, as I need to focus on writing and marketing my own books. Please see the website to inquire about editing services. You can email me at ljandrewsauthor@gmail.com to discuss editing.

What is your advice to other authors and people who want to write?
Just start. You have to MAKE time to sit down and begin outlining your story. I recommend an outline, or it is quite possible the revision process will cause you to lose your hair. If you have a dream of writing, what's stopping you? J.K. Rowling just wrote, she didn't know where she was going to end up, why can't you?
Just a side rant. If you tell yourself no one will read your books...no one will. If you tell yourself you will never be able to sell a book...you never will. If you tell yourself you don't have time...you won't have time. Believe in yourself enough to take the first step toward your dream. Just start.

You didn't answer my question...
